Ten easy Ways to Save Money By Thomas J. Berry

These ten tips can help you to cut down on general expenses and overcome your financial struggles, I have used meny if not all of them and not that I am rollin in money but I am keeping my head above water in these hard times. I have to say that according to some of the top economist things are not going to get better anytime soon, its up to us a people to start making the changes we need to so we can survive these time and be in shape for when things get better and they will get better.

1. Spend Less on Gas

Driving erratically has a negative impact on fuel economy, because accelerating quickly and braking suddenly uses more gas than would be used when driving conservatively. By accelerating at a moderate pace and braking less often, you can increase gas mileage and spend less on gas. You can also save money on gas by seeking stations with the lowest prices. can help to compare gas prices in your area. Also if you can walk to the store or your kids school or ride a bike then do this. I can not tell you howmuch I have saved on gas by just using the legs that GOD blessed me with to get from point a to point b and oh yes I alsolost about 10 pounds so you get added benefits.

2. Save Money on Your Phone Bill

With cell phones becomming increasingly popular, people are using their landlines less and less. If you find yourself using only your cell phone, you would be wise to cancel your land line and thereby save upwards of $50 a month on phone expenses. And, once you're down to only a cell phone, you can save even more money by finding the cheapest plan that fits your needs. can help you decide which cell phone plan is the best value for you. I know some will save that you need the land line for the internet...wrong.. you can use you cell phone with your desk top to get online and guess what faster

3. Keep Track of Your Spending

By recording exactly how you spend your money for one month, you'll be able to see where all your cash really goes. You may find, for example, that you're throwing away $20 a week on fast food runs. By becoming aware of what you're actually spending, you may be able to cut back on needless expenses. See what spending you can do for yourself instead of paying someone else.

4. Save Spare Change

Instead of leaving it in your purse or wallet where you'll likely spend it, save spare change in a jar. A few cents here or there may not seem like much, but it really does add up. Saving just a dollar a day in change equates to saving $365 in a year!

5.Save Money on Bank Fees

Be sure to sign up with a bank that has free checking. You should never have to pay for your checking account. Also, by withdrawing money only from the ATM machine at your own bank, you'll rack up savings in ATM fees.

6. Use Cash, Not Credit

You're less likely to overspend if you're paying with cash instead of a credit card, because cash obligates you to immediately pay for what you're purchasing. When you're going to the grocery store, for example, you'll be less likely to spend $20 extra on junk food that isn't on your list if you only have a $100 bill to spend.

7. Use Direct Deposit

Have a portion of each paycheck automatically deposited into your savings account. If you never have access to that money, you can't spend it and likely won't even miss it.

8. Eat at Home

Cooking meals at home is far less expensive than eating out every night. For the same price that you'll spend on one night of dining out, you can buy enough food at the grocery to make up to a week's worth of dinners at home. That is not to say that you should eliminate all trips to the restaurant, but cutting out just one or two restaurant meals a week can save you hundreds of dollars a year.

9. Pay All Your Bills on Time, and Pay Credit Card Bills in Full

By paying for all your bills on time, you will eliminate late fees and save up to $30 on each bill. And, if you must have a credit card, pay it off in full each month. Paying only the minimum balance each month costs much more over the long run, as you will pay high amounts of interest.

10. Look for Ways to Save on Income Taxes

You may be able to receive a tax cut that you're not aware of. Make sure you know of tax cuts relating to charity, children, education etc. so you're not paying more in income taxes than you need to be.

Which bill should you pay first every month

I’ve been receiving a lot of emails, notes and phone call from people wondering which bill to pay and in what order. I thought to myself that is a good question. Of course, I need to stress that all bills need to be paid but sometime you can be so far behind, you don’t which to pay or should you. Let me put your mind at ease.

I referenced, two credit counselors, and one book and my personal money problems that I’ve had in the past and we came up with this. This should work for the majority of the people but not everyone. We are hoping it will give you at least an idea or a concept to think of what is important to you and no one else.

Pay yourself first; you must start putting money away. I’m not talking about $550 or $110, but you need to put something away. Put a dollar up or a nickel or something. Put it in a jar a can or the bank. But open saving and put money away. Now, a lot of you reading this are going crazy because you might be saying. I don’t have money to put a way. Oh, yes you do. You just need to put something away. How much was that soda you bought? How much was the local newspaper? Why did you buy gum? If you can buy these items, you have money to put away.

Then you need to pay rent or mortgage, this is unexplanatory. You must have a roof over your shoulder at all times. Without a roof, how are you going to sleep and cook and be real to yourself? Some people have leaky roofs or old kitchen sink but without a roof over your head. You will not be able to live.

Grocery bill, this logical, you have to eat. You have to put good nutritional meals in your body. When you eat well, you think well. And this is what helps you be better in everything.

Utilities, such as lights, water and gas. You have to keep warm or cool, be able to cook and bathe. This will help you feel good and if you feel good, you go do more.

Phone or Internet services, this will help you to communicate to the outside world. Now, sometimes, you don’t need these services. But it depends on the nature of what you do. So some thinking is needed here before you pay this.

Car payments, if you have one but if you don’t have a car payment. Great, keep it that way until you find the need for a car. Get rid of this bill fast. I know you can do it. Reduce, cut or get rid of as soon as possible. Now, we put Phone and Internet over car. Because you can go without a car, you can walk. But sometime this is needed. You have to work on this and think well.

Gas & Maintenance money, without a good working car, how are you going to get around? But remember, if you don’t have a car, you don’t need this bill.

Loans, you need to make arrangements to get these loans paid off. Loans are a little harder to get away from paying. But they have to be paid off. Get the loans paid.

Credit Cards, they can threaten you but they can’t take your life a way. So put them on the bottom of your list. If you a dollar left to pay them, then do it. Something is better than nothing.

Now, I’m sure some of you have more bills or fewer bills. You have to work them in order of important. You have to work with yourself and see what will work and what will not work.

Lay all of your bills down and ask yourself, what can you PAY off this month? Which one is more important than the other? What bill can be paid next month? And of course ask yourself, why do I have so many bills?

Look at these questions above, and see where the money goes. Sometimes you can find money without even thinking about it, sometimes you can see you have a lot of money but you don’t see it.  I’ve come to the fact that my money is more than I think I have but I don’t see it that way because if goes so fast that I don’t have the time to enjoy it.

I want you to take all of the last 6 months, and add up how much money went out, per month. Now, once you do that. See, you have money….

Hi. I'm new to this.  I'm not even sure what I'm doing.  I guess just posting something to see if anyone responds or if there are any angels out there.  I'm 29, stay at home mom of two daughters.  My eldest daughter is 8 and youngest will be a year old next month.  I'm in debt up to my eyeballs.  I wanted to return to school and get my nursing degree but found out that I am not eligible for financial aid any longer b/c of the credits I already have and have attempted.  I cannot go back in time and do things differently or make better choices.  I started college at a young age and also got pregnant and made some mistakes in reguards to attending classes, trying to work and raise a new baby on my own.  So right now I find myself between a rock and a hard place.  I can't find daycare so I can return to work and I can't go to school.  My husband doesn't make enough money to support us.  Every bit of his paychecks go towards bills and then we struggle from day to day in between pay periods.  Some times we have to pass on paying certain bills just to keep the electric on or the water or even to make sure he has enough gas to get back and forth to work each week.  I am at a loss.....I feel so helpless.  There is so much more that I want to provide for my family and there's nothing I can do.  I suppose all that is left for me to do is HOPE!

Emergency Help Needed Now

Emergency Please Help Me.

I am currently unemployed only getting 250.00 in child support a month. My expenses are 4x this amount. I am in the process of getting my truck repossed. The company said if I get at least 400.00 that they wouldn't bother me for a while. So I am trying to raise that.

I would rather pay it off. I owe 7,382.47. This is what I am shooting for so that I look for a job and not work about my car being repossed.

I am just trying to get these things done because most of my money that I get in child support is going to the electric bill (total electric) and gas because it is too high. If I can get these things done, it would be a great burden off of me. Please help me. I am accepting paypal payments @ and Mail: C. Fuller, 100 Castor Drive, Apt F9, Norcross, Ga 30071. Thank you so much.

Financially Distreught, need help

I'm in a deprate situation and need help. I was work at an army base in Georgia and met a nice young man. To make a long story short, he adventurely started to rob banks to known of my knowledge.  When the FBI came to my house to require about him, I said I don't know him because I didn't want to get involved. Who would of thought that statement would have ruined my life. They incarcerated me for four months for making a false statement and fined me a substantial amount of money and more. Right now, behind that, I have nothing. My bank account is gone, my cars is gone, my house is gone. I have two children who I can't provide for with pending child support. I'm spending thanksgiving alone in a dark apartment with no utilities. I need help bad. That's not to include that I lost my wife, have no means of transportation to get a job and I have a strike which make it more difficult to land a job. I need a good paying job also. I'm unable to pay none of my bills.
